Hi,
- Yes you are entitled for benefit u/s 54F.
Thanks
I have recently sold land and want to buy house. I own house and buy one more. However I have house inherited ancestral family house in my name. I have not purchased it. Can I get benifit under 54f
Yes certainly you can get. As per section 54F you can get benefit of exemption by buying a house if at the time of claiming exemption under section 54F you owned only 1 more house other than the new house and as you are saying you are owning one house received from ancestors you can claim exemption under 54F by buying a new house.
If you want any other information relating to exemption you can get a consultation session.
Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.
Thank you
If the house you intend to purchase is your second house then deduction can be claimed under section 54F. Inheritance of the house does not make any difference in your position.
Dear Sir,
Hope you are doing well !
Yes, you can get the benefit u/s 54F.

Thanks for reply. Just clarifying. I have house and buy new house under 54f. Also some property has been inherited from ancestors and not purchased apart from above. So this doubt.
If you are owning 2 house already then you can't claim benefit under section 54F. It doesn't matter if the house is purchased or inherited, if you are owning the house then you can't buy the 3rd one.
Sorry, you want be able to claim benefit of section 54F sinxe you own more than one house.
It does not matter whether you but it or inherit it.
Hi,
Since, you own more than once houses, you won't be eligible for section 54F.
Alternatively, you can use section 54EC
