• Registration as assessee in e-filing site with PAN no.

I am a partner in a registered firm. The firm deducts tds on interest it pays from lenders.
My auditor has been filing our TDS returns for past few years.
We intend to register as an assessee in Income tax e-filing portal using our Pan no & TAN no and our own password for verification purpose.
My Question is:
Can my CA file my income tax return and TDS return for a.y. 2019-20 WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR PASSWORD?
If your reply is He cannot file OUR returns without our password we will DEFINITELY NOT register in income tax portal with our PAN no and TAN no.
We do not want to aske this question to our CA as we feel it might hurt his feelings.

Hi

Since your CA has been filing your ITR and TDS returns, you would be already having IDs for the same. You cannot create a new ID on the same PAN and TAN.

Your CA would not be able to file any returns without passwords.

Under the user type chartered accountant one can only upload audit report.

Yes he need to register for all the clients seperately with different user id and he can use same password for all clients.

Once the CA has registered the client using his password client cannot again register himself he needs to either know the password or change the password.

CA cannot upload a return from CA login.

Thank you

There's nothing as such.

Each assessee I.e. client would have a separate ID and password. The CA has to file returns from specific IDs of clients.

Example, in income tax, ID is PAN of the assessee. CA needs to login to the assessee's ID on income tax portal and file his ITR.

Hi,

First part- Client Login- Client adds his CA on his etax portal

CA login- CA gets a member/auditor login specially for accepting these requests and filing the tax returns of the clients where he needs to do the audit. Password is single which belongs to CA. He need not share with any of his clients. The CA will upload the return from his portal once he is added in the concerned client. After that client has to accept the submitted docs.

Second part- Only A CA with valid membership can register for user type CA. Client will be able to get the individual/normal registration on e filing website.

Hi

No return filling can be done without password.

Registration on such sites are done based on PAN/TAN of individual client and all with different passwords.

If assesses registered on his own and dont share the password then CA can not file return.

Hope it helps

CA have to register themselves as CA for uploading certificates, audit reports etc.

Otherwise each client have to register themselves with their own PAN and Password.  Also, in case password is forgotten, it can be resend.  The password can be changed multiple times by person for security.

For uploading return, the CA has to log in using the client id and not his CA registration.
