GST is not applicable on salary income
Hi, I recently started a new job with Government Corporation and my monthly salary is 3 Lacs per month. 10% is deducted as TDS per month. I calculate income taxes based on Presumptive Tax 44ADA claiming 50% deemed expenses. Do I required to pay GST? And if so, how much?
Hello,
Kindly confirm whether you are employed with the corporation or receiving fees for your professional services. It can be verified by checking under which section TDS is being made, u/s. 192 (Salary) or u/s. 194J(Professional Fees)
If you are salaried, then GST is not applicable o salary under employer-employee relation.
Otherwise, if you receiving professioanl professional fees, GST registration is required if you cross the Rs. 20 Lakh threshold limit.
I hope that this answer satisfies your requirements.

Hi
Since you are receiving a professional fees and not a salary, you will be required to register under GST once your turnover exceeds 20 lacs.
If your turnover is upto 20 lacs, you don't need to register under GST.
Yes you are required to charge GST since you are providing professional service (as 10% TDS is getting deducted) and your turnover is above Rs. 20 lakh in one year.
Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.
Thank you.
