• Long term capital gain

I have recently sold a property. On calculation of LTCG ,the tax payeble is substantially more after Indexation(@20%) than without Indexation (@10%).
Can I pay LTCG tax without Indexation?
Asked 4 years ago in Capital Gains Tax

Hi

LTCG is chargeable to tax @20% with indexation only. There is no option to pay taxes @ 10% without indexation.

Hello,

There is no option to pay tax on LTCG without indexation arising from the sale of a property.

The 10% LTCG without indexation is applicable to the sale of equity shares if the gains in a financial year exceed Rs 1 lakh.

I hope this answer satisfies your requirements.

Dear Sir,

Long term capital gain on sale of Property is taxable at the rate of 20% and no such option available to pay tax at the rate of 10%.

Tax Rate on long term capital gain in case of Equity Shares is 10% without Indexation.

Thanks and Regards

- In case of sale of property, only tax rate of 20% is applicable and not 10%.

10% rate on capital gain is applicable on certain specific assets and not on sale of property. Rate applicable on property will be 20% after indexation. You can save upon the tax after investing in property within a period of 2 years from the date of sale or property under construction within 3 years from sale date.
