• VAT for start up food joints and restaurants

Is it mandatory for restaurants or food joints to get VAT before they star ?
I read at many sites that 5 lac or above turn over makes the VAT applicable.

Dear Sir,

Yes there are limits for VAT applicability. If your turnover is below that limit, you dont need to take registration. However, limit varies from state to state. Generally its 5 Lacs/ 10 Lacs.

Hello Sir,

Yes you are very much correct about the Vat registration part. But it is not mandatory before you start.

It is mandatory only after you cross a specified turnover during a financial year which differs from state to state but is usually in the 5-10 Lacs bracket.

Trust this clarifies your query.

Feel free to call back/ get back in case of further clarifications.

Thanking You.
