I'm a salaried employee . I forget to E-verify the return for the AY 2020-21,noticed this while doing current year verification. And E-verified the same on Jan 5 2022. But with remarks “E-verified after due date. Your condonation request is forwarded for approval. As per Circular No.21/2021 dated 28/12/2021 CBDT provides one-time relaxation for verification of e-filed ITR's for AY 2020-21 which are pending for verification due to non-submission of ITR-V form or pending e-Verification. Now do i have to submit a new request to get this one time relief? If they provide one time relief for AY 2020-21, then why its goes through condonation request process? What i have to do if my condonation request is rejected ? Do i get any penalty or Jail term due this if its rejected ? Please help on this. Note: In the portal i don't see any option to apply for this one time relief, only i find a option to e-verify and it goes to condonation request,so i used that option and e-verified.

Do we really need to send physical copy of ITR-V duly signed to CPC, Bangalore ? As I already submitted on Income tax portal ? If we send both online and physical requests, will it cause any issue. Also how to send a physical copy ? and what is the process for that ?
There is no harm in sending physical copy.
1. Take prinout of ITR-V
2. sign under the box only
3. Address is mentioned at bottom in ITR-V
4. Send thru speed post only.
Yes a relaxation was announced till 28.02.2022 and looking at the relaxation they won't reject the request and they need to ask for relaxation as it's a standard procedure I think.

There are being last step of the ITR filing process is verification. There are 6 ways to verify your ITR. Out of this, 5 are electronic methods and one is physical verification. If you want to verify your tax-return electronically, you will not be required to send any documents to the tax department.
However, if you wish to verify your return physically, then you will be required to send a duly signed copy of ITR-V/Acknowledgement to 'CPC, Post Box no. 1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore- 560100, Karnataka ..
As per Question put up there are no need of Physical copy dispatch if Electronically E-Verified .And if you has sended both online and physical requests, It doesn't create any issue .
Hope I answered to your Query Sir
Thanks for the answers. I can see now the status is showing as "Under Processing",which means is that ITR file is approved and In progress? How long will it takes for processing (in case if there is no-refund)
Under processing means in progress the assessment by income tax department. If the return filed by the taxpayer is found to be accurate and has a refund claim, the refund is issued to the taxpayers. Generally, the credit of refund process takes about 20-45 days from the date of e-verification of the income tax return. However, if the acknowledgement has been sent physically to the CPC, it may take a longer time.
