Question: I am a founder an NGO, running orphanage in rented building for last 5yrs. we now moved to my new house. But we built it with lot of my personal money. so can i still claim rent for my own house, being a founder? I recently applied for 12A income tax exemption. my electricity bill is on my name. in this condition can i claim house rent? if i have to get back on what i spent, i need someway to claim my money back. Please give me your valuable advice. Thanks

Any payment to the trustees by way of remuneration or benefits will have problems in getting registration u/s 12A. You will have to also check with the trust deed for payment of remuneration or other benefits to the trustees. If the trust deed does not allow, you cannot claim it.
