Purchase of DDA property
Recently DDA announced the scheme to buy flats in Aug 2024.
I am a NRI (based in middle-east) and my wife is in India.
I want to apply for DDA flat in my wife name the primary reason being, I cannot come to India regularly to complete legal formalities like affidavit, stamping, registration or any other procedure required by DDA from time to time.
Now, my question is that my wife is a housewife and dependent on me. So the funding to buy the flat will come from me(husband). So, can I fill the form in my wife name for DDA flat allotment and if she has the flat allotted by DDA then can I pay the money (from my account in India i.e. NRO/NRE account).
Is it possible, and what are the legal, stamping or tax regulations. Will income tax or DDA ask my wife from where did she get the money.
Question 2: If I apply in my name for DDA flat (as single or joint owner) then should I have to declare to DDA that I am a NRI. Will the registrations charges, stamp duty or any taxes increase in that case?
