Query Regarding PF Withdrawal and TDS Implications

Dear Team, I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out for your guidance regarding an issue I’m facing with my Provident Fund (PF) withdrawal. I worked with two companies, Sapient and Deloitte, over a span of more than 5 years. During my tenure at Deloitte, I had two separate UANs, one for each company. My mistake was that I did not merge these UAN while I was in Deloitte and I resigned from Deloitte. I withdrew the PF balance from Sapient but haven’t yet withdrawn the PF from Deloitte. The problem I’m facing is that my tenure with Deloitte was less than 5 years, and I understand that such a withdrawal may attract TDS. I attempted to merge both UANs so that my total PF tenure could be considered, but my requests for merging were rejected by the EPFO field officer. I’m considering withdrawing the Deloitte PF balance and wanted to check with you if it’s possible to avoid TDS as below: Can I still claim the total tenure across both companies (Sapient and Deloitte) when filing my Income Tax Return (ITR)? In my next ITR, can I declare the withdrawal under "Income from Other Sources" and show my total PF tenure across both UANs to claim it as a non-taxable withdrawal? Would it be necessary to attach any supporting documents, such as Form 16 issued by EPFO (if available)? I would appreciate your insights and advice on the best way to handle this situation. Looking forward to your response. Best regards, Suhas
